What is Vega? Vega is Clean, plant-based nutrition. Good for your body and the planet. Formulated by the incredibly awesome Ironman triathlete, ultramarathon running bestselling author of Thrive, Brendan Brazier.
According to Vega’s website The new and improved Energizing Smoothie (Vega sent me samples to try and review- opinions are 110% truthful and my own) gives you the all-natural, plant-based goodness you expect from Vega—compete with protein, fiber and Omega-3—but unlike traditional smoothies, you only need water (or almond milk if you like to bend the rules) to shake and go. The five flavors Oh Natural, Tropical Tango, Choc-A-Lot, Vanilla Almondilla and Boadacious Berry- are so delicious it will make you forget how healthy they are, and the names are creative and cute.
Energizing Smoothie features:
- Two servings of veggies (that you can’t, well I can’t taste)
- 10 g of complete, plant-based protein (11g in the chocolate)
- 5 g of fiber
- 1 g of Omega-3
First flavor I tried was the Vanilla Almondlilla – I dumped the packed into a shaker to mix, it was green, yes green, not grass-green but green. My paranoia took over, I sniffed at the powder, shook it around and sniffed again; it smelled like Vanilla. I proceeded to mix (with unsweetened almond milk – water is technically recommended but I’m not very good at following directions and always mix these powder smoothies with ‘milk’) After mixing/shaking it was still kind of green and I slightly scared to try it but smelled delicious so I picked up the glass…after the first sip I was hooked, really really hooked like I needed more stat. I brought up the greenness for two reasons, it scared me, I wasn’t expecting green and the green is the 2 servings of tasteless veggies. Normally I love tasting my veggies, in a vanilla shake, not so much so I am glad to report that I did not even taste a hint of veggies.
I wanted to save the Choc -A- Lot because I knew I was going to love love love it. So next up I tried the Bodacious Berry – Not my favorite, but I generally don’t like berry flavored things… If you like berries you should like this.
I am a cholocaholic, chocolate addict, a chocolate person. Chocolate is my thing… I couldn’t wait anymore I had to try the chocolate. I ripped open the packet, shook and sipped. Yum, Good, Nice chocolate flavor but not too much chocolate. However the Vanilla is still my favorite, shocking for a super chocolate fan.
Vega has been awesome enough to let me giveaway 2 large pouches, 1 Choc-A-Lot & 1 Vanilla Almondilla to a reader.
