JUST KIDDING! There is NO pill… but you knew that right? I hope so
Over the years I have found some easy tips and tricks at getting more fruits and vegetables into my diet. These are some of my top ones
Add fresh fruit to oatmeal or cereal (or even on toast) – I love to add blueberries, strawberries and or banana to oatmeal. Strawberries or apples are my fruit of choice in cereal and a cut up banana on toast is killer, especially with a nut butter. Yum.
I usually eat salad for lunch BUT sometimes I’ll go for a sandwich and when I do I load my sandwiches up with veggies! Leafy greens, cucumbers, peppers, avocado, shredded carrots and tomatoes (full disclosure I hate tomatoes but I hear they are good on sandwiches) … if that doesn’t work for you add a side salad (dark greens & other veggies) to whatever it is you like to eat for lunch
Make sure you have 1 if not 2 or 3 different types of veggies as part of your meal or a salad) I find its easy to add things like to add green beans as a side to Italian dishes and broccoli, spinach and or cauliflower to Mexican dishes. My go to dinners are pasta (sometimes whole wheat) with tomato sauce, side salad (dark leafy greens, cucumbers, peppers) and cooked green beans AND tacos/enchiladas filled with beans (not a veggie) red, yellow, orange and or green peppers, corn, onions, broccoli, carrots, etc.
Mix carrot sticks and cut celery in with your chips and hummus or just snack on the veggies alone. Other snack foods I like include apples with or without some nut butter, pears, bananas with or without some peanut butter, and cherries or grapes when they are in season
STRAWBERRIES! sorry for yelling but they go with everything! cake? cookies? chocolate? add some strawberries and YUM! or my summer favorite is strawberries an d whip cream!
