Cross Training with CrossFit

Cross Fit is a core strength and conditioning program that delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive.

I love running, running is my passion but I know in order to be a better runner I need to be stronger, fitter and diversify my training, plus you can’t run everyday. This is where CrossFit comes in.

I’ve been doing some light CrossFit for almost 2 years, I started with basic kettlebell swings and have integrated them into WOD’s (Workouts of the Day). I’m a at home CrossFit(er), I don’t have a local cross fit gym (maybe I should open one – who wants to be my business partner?) so I use my livingroom.

Here are a few of my sample WOD

5 Rounds – 10 Push-ups, 10 Sit-ups, 10 Squats

8 Rounds – 1o KB Swings, 10 Walking Lunges, 10 Push-ups

10 Rounds – 10 Sit-ups and 10 Burpees

5 Rounds – 15 KB Swings – 25 Burpees

On my weekly cross training day I do CrossFit, 2 -3 of the above routines. On days where I run I usually do 1 of the above (or similar) routines.

What do you do on your cross training days? Have you tried CrossFit?

Those sound like great at home WODs. & I definitely think you should open your own gym! ;)
